Durango managed the construction of this 2022 renovation at Richardson International’s 27th-floor café.
The project needed to be seamless, as the café was existing and could not be down for long. We reviewed shop drawings and ordered all materials before starting construction. This allowed us to have everything in hand when we started construction to avoid any delays due to supply chain issues. We completed the entire project in nine weeks, even when the entire building was shut down for a week in the middle of the construction period, due to an unrelated fire in the concourse.
The renovation included completely gutting the space. The biggest challenge with projects in high-rise office buildings like this one is not disrupting the building operations or any other tenants. Material deliveries and clean-up needed to happen between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m.
A highlight from this project included using Zintra products on the walls and ceilings, which provide effective noise reduction, and they look great, too. The new café is now a cozy spot for Richardson employees to enjoy coffee and lunch.
